Scene from Acting & Voice Studios collection. 21 lines, 2 characters.
Full Script
Michael: Thanks for coming.
Emily: Honestly Michael, I don’t even know what I’m doing here.
Michael: Yes you do. They look into each other’s eyes. There’s a spark that Emily is fighting.
Emily: I shouldn’t be here. I should -
Michael: But you are here. And so am I. Because whether we like it or not, whether it’s supposed to be “right” or not, we both feel this. Emily sighs.
Michael: Ever since I saw you. The very first time, I knew -
Emily: I saved you. It’s natural to feel a strong connection to the person who saved your life.
Michael: You saved me, yes, and in more than one way. But that has nothing to do with this. This is real. I’ve never felt this way about anyone else -
Emily: I’m a married woman, Michael. This can’t work. It just can’t -
Michael: Can you tell me you don’t want it to? If you tell me that you don’t want this. That you’re happy in your marriage... if he’s the love of your life and not me - Then I’ll walk away right now. I’ll leave for good and you’ll never hear from me again. Can you say that? Emily sighs.
Michael: Just because society says this is wrong, doesn’t mean it is. You married someone before you met the right someone. It happens all the time. You made a mistake -
Emily: I didn’t make a mistake! I loved Liam when I married him -
Michael: But do you love him now?
Emily: Stop this, Michael -
Michael: I can’t offer you what he can. I probably never can. The cars, the houses, the security - But we’re so much more than that.
Emily: And you’re the answer. You’re better than everything I have, is that right? And what, being with you is going to make me happy?
Michael: Yes, for God’s sake, yes.
Emily: Life isn’t that simple, Michael. There’s a life that has to be led after the last scene in some fairytale. A life of choices and decisions and responsibility. I made the choice to marry Liam. That was my choice. It’s what was - what is right for me.
Michael: 2. It might not be right for you, you may not agree with it. But it’s right for me.
Michael: Emily, don’t do this -
(this is hard)
Emily: If you love me, you’ll keep your promise... I won’t see you again. I wish you the best, I really do. Emily gets up and walks out. Michael sits alone, hurt.
