Emily: Hannah, what’s going on? This is your 3rd time in the Principal’s office this month.
Hannah: So?
Emily: So, Mom and Dad had to take off work again. Principal Sims is probably in there right now explaining how they had to cut the gum out of Jenny’s hair and her parents were not happy about it.
(smiles)
Hannah: Her hair was too long anyway.
Emily: That’s not funny, Hannah.
Hannah: What? It will look better shorter. I did her a favor.
(sarcastic)
Emily: Great... I can’t wait for you to explain that to Mom and Dad.
Hannah: Yeah well at least they’re here.
Emily: What’s that supposed to mean?
Hannah: The only time I see them anymore is when they come to bail me out.
Emily: Is that why you’re doing all this?
Hannah: Ever since Mom started her new job, she’s not home until we’re in bed. And Dad barely makes it to dinner. 2.
(sighs, sincerely)
Emily: I know it’s been hard. It’s been hard for me too. But it won’t last forever. And I’m here, okay? Whenever you need me.
