Full Script
Davis: Where were you? Brit stops, caught. She doesn’t make eye contact and doesn’t respond.
Davis: Where were you?
Brit: Don’t - Davis stands.
Davis: You think I don’t know what goes on out there? I’m a cop, Brit. I know. I’ve seen it all.
Brit: Who gives a shit...
Davis: Talk to me. I’m here. I’m listening. Let me help -
Brit: I don’t need your help.
Davis: I can’t help you if I don’t know what’s going on.
Brit: What, so now I’m like some injured animal? Just cause there’s somethin wrong with you doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with me. I’m allowed to have friends.
Davis: It’s 2 am. Nothin good goes on after -
Brit: I’m not a kid! When are you gonna stop treating me like one?
Davis: I got work in 4 hours and you got practice tomorrow. You think I like waiting up all hours for you to come home? We talked about this. Is it that hard to answer my calls and texts?
Brit: Yes! Talk to my dad? In the middle of a party? Are you serious?
Davis: Who is partying on a Wednesday night?! I’ll tell ya who, people with no future. Believe me, I know, I break up these -
Brit: Yeah, yeah, you break up kids having a good time. Real tough guy. Good for you.
Davis: That’s not you. This is not my little girl.
Brit: Goddamn right. I’m not. Never was. I was mom’s. That hits Davis hard.
(beat)
Davis: That’s - Is that what’s bothering you?
Brit: Oh, what, that mom drank her brains out and then decided to drive off a cliff into a tree? No. No that doesn’t bother me at all. What bothers me... is you!
(beat)
Davis: You don’t think I don’t miss her? Every single day? I do.
Brit: Bullshit.
Davis: Of course I do. Every second of every day.
Brit: Then why did you let her do it?! Huh?! You’re a cop right? Big tough guy?! And you let your wife become some alcoholic mess and drive herself off a cliff?! Where were you? Breaking up some parties?! You’re so proud of your job, but you weren’t there the one time that it mattered. Brit storms off to her room.
Davis: Brit, I - Davis watches her go, broken. He stares in her direction.
