Andrew: Dude, did you get the letter?!

Daniel: What letter?

Andrew: Bethany’s friend Faith told her friend Sarah to tell Jesse to tell me that we were getting a very special letter today.

(not looking up)

Daniel: Oh, you mean that one from Beta Phi inviting us to their holiday party tonight.

(sarcastically)

Andrew: Yes, that letter!

Daniel: Yeah, I threw it out.

Andrew: You what...?! Do you hear the words coming out of your mouth right now? Beta Phi, as in Bethany’s Beta Phi, invited US, as in you and me, to their glorious holiday party, where all the hottest girls in school will be, tonight, as in, 3 hours from now?!! Am I missing something?

Daniel: Yeah, you’re missing the fact that I have a creative writing essay due in two days. Oh, and the fact that WE, as in, you and I, have no shot in hell at even talking to Bethany or any other of the girls there tonight so I’m not going.

(grabs Daniel’s laptop and throws it to the side)

Andrew: That’s it -

Daniel: Dude, what the heck?

(quieter now)

Andrew: Now you listen to me, Daniel. I don’t care about your creative writing essay and I don’t even care if you want to go. This is MY only shot in 21 years of life to go to Betta Phi and probably my only chance to ask out Bethany Jones and I’m not letting you or anyone else mess it up for me! Also, I can’t go alone, so you’re coming with me. Daniel sighs.

Daniel: What if it’s a prank? Just to get us there and then make us look stupid. Andrew puts his hand on Daniel’s shoulder.

Andrew: Sometime’s, you just gotta say, “what the hell.”

Daniel: What, is that from a movie or something?

Andrew: No, but it was pretty good, huh?

(smiles)

Daniel: Well... what the hell.

(hugs him)

Andrew: Yes! Oh and you can use that in your creative writing essay if you want.

Daniel: No thanks.
