Full Script

Nurse: Are the pain meds wearing off?

Mrs. Harrison: Thanks for coming.

Nurse: Any sensations in the legs?

Mrs. Harrison: No, it’s not that.

Nurse: How can I help?

(sighs)

Mrs. Harrison: My daughter is on her way here right now. She doesn’t know yet. I mean, I told her I was in the car accident, but I told her I was going to be okay -

Nurse: I see.

Mrs. Harrison: I just - I couldn’t tell her over the phone. She’s only 10. How do I tell a 10 year old that mommy won’t be able to walk again.

Nurse: I’m so sorry Mrs. Harrison. I can’t imagine. But you’re still her mom. You’re still going to be there for her. And she’s still going to love you. No matter what.

(smiles)

Mrs. Harrison: You’re right. Thank you. Can you just - can you let me be the one to tell her?

Nurse: Of course. Nurse smiles at Mrs. Harrison.
