The Session
Therapist gets therapy from his mentor
Full Script
Jimmy: I told a patient to stop being a coward and ask his wife for a divorce.
Paul: That's not therapy. That's advice from a barstool.
Jimmy: It worked! He's happier. She's happier. Everyone's happier.
Paul: For now. What happens when his 'happiness' has consequences you didn't foresee?
Jimmy: Then I'll deal with it. That's what therapists do.
Paul: No. That's what God does. Therapists listen.
Jimmy: Listening wasn't helping. They were stuck.
Paul: And now they're unstuck. But at what cost? To them? To you?
Jimmy: I'm fine.
Paul: Jimmy, your wife died eighteen months ago. 'Fine' is not a diagnosis.
