The Deduction - Sherlock Style

Holmes reveals brilliant deduction to astonished Watson

Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Watson9 lines

Full Script

Sherlock Holmes: The murderer was left-handed, smokes French cigarettes, and has a limp.

Dr. Watson: How could you possibly know all that from looking at a footprint?

Sherlock Holmes: Not just the footprint, Watson. The ash by the window, the disturbed mud pattern.

Dr. Watson: The ash tells you he's left-handed?

Sherlock Holmes: The ash tells me he smokes Gauloises. French. Expensive. The window tells me he's left-handed.

Dr. Watson: I'm not following.

Sherlock Holmes: He opened it with his left hand. The fingerprints on the handle are smudged leftward.

Dr. Watson: Brilliant. And the limp?

Sherlock Holmes: Look at the footprints again, Watson. He favors his right foot.
