Free Practice Scenes for Actors — No Account Required

Finding good practice material shouldn't be harder than actually practicing. Yet most actors spend more time hunting for scenes than rehearsing them.

ActorLab has 159 free practice scenes across every genre — and you can start any of them in 30 seconds with an AI scene partner. No account. No download. No credit card.

Scenes by Genre

Here's what's in the library:

🏥 Medical Drama

Scenes inspired by Grey's Anatomy, House MD, and ER. High-stakes OR conversations, diagnostic dilemmas, and patient-doctor moments that test your ability to convey urgency and empathy simultaneously. Best for: emotional range, high-stakes dialogue, technical language delivery

😂 Comedy & Sitcom

Workplace comedy (Office-style), buddy cop dynamics (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), and ensemble situations. These test timing, deadpan delivery, and the ability to find the funny without overplaying. Best for: comedic timing, straight-man delivery, physical comedy prompts

🎭 Drama

Relationship confrontations, family secrets, courtroom exchanges, and quiet moments of revelation. The bread and butter of audition sides. Best for: emotional depth, subtext, active listening

🔪 Thriller & Horror

Psychological tension, interrogation scenes, and survival situations. These train you to sustain intensity and reveal information through behavior rather than exposition. Best for: building tension, physicality, controlled fear

🚀 Sci-Fi & Fantasy

Dystopian futures, space exploration, supernatural encounters. These require you to ground fantastical circumstances in real human emotion — the skill that separates good genre acting from bad. Best for: grounding exposition, emotional truth in unreal settings

🎬 Period & Historical

Elevated language, formal dialogue patterns, and historical contexts that demand a different physical and vocal quality. Best for: dialect flexibility, period-appropriate physicality

How to Use Free Scenes with an AI Partner

1. Go to actorlab.io/try — no signup needed
2. Browse the scene library — filter by genre
3. Select a scene — read the description and character breakdown
4. Choose your role — the AI reads the other character
5. Hit Start — the AI partner reads with realistic voice timing

You get 10 minutes of free practice per visit. That's enough for 3-4 scene runs — plenty to warm up before an audition or build a daily cold read habit.

Why Free Matters

Most acting tools charge $10-30/month before you even know if they're useful. We think that's backwards.

Actors are already spending money on classes, headshots, submissions, and gas to get to auditions. Practice material should be free. The AI that makes it better can be a paid upgrade, but the scenes themselves? Those should be accessible to everyone.

That's why every scene in the library works with our basic (free) voice synthesis. Premium ElevenLabs voices are available for Pro users who want more realistic partners, but you can practice any scene for free.
