Full Script

Rooster: You pulled my papers. You kept me on the ground for three years.

Maverick: I made a promise to your mother.

Rooster: It wasn't your promise to make! That was my career. My choice!

Maverick: And your father's death was my fault! Is that what you want to hear?

Rooster: I want to hear the truth. For once in my life.

Maverick: The truth is I can't watch you die the way he did. I couldn't live with that.

Rooster: So you controlled my life instead.

Maverick: I protected you. There's a difference.

Rooster: Not from where I'm standing.

Maverick: Then prove me wrong. Get in that cockpit and come back alive.
